What is the XFL, and does it still exist?

What transpired with the alternative to the NFL? As American football prepares for its pinnacle event of the season, the clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LVIII on February 11, viewers have alternatives to the NFL, notably the XFL. The XFL, now in its third iteration, was first introduced in 2001 for a single season, followed by a unsuccessful relaunch in 2020. The current revival commenced in 2023. The original XFL, initiated in 2001 by former WWE owner Vince McMahon in collaboration with NBC, aimed to capitalize on the post-Super Bowl and off-season football fervor. Marketed as an 'alternative' to the NFL, the XFL adopted a more intense and 'violent' style akin to WWE programming. Despite a promising start, interest waned due to the game quality, leading to its demise after just one season. McMahon retained the trademark and attempted a relaunch in 2020, but it was cut short after a single season due to the COVID-19 pande...

The Ravens' high-powered offense falling short of the Super Bowl has left Lamar Jackson 'frustrated' or 'disappointed.'

Lamar Jackson expressed his disappointment as the offense, which had propelled his team to the NFL's best regular-season record, failed to spark in the AFC Championship Game with a Super Bowl berth at stake. Despite winning Jackson's last seven starts and averaging 33.9 points per game, the Ravens' offense struggled, managing only 10 points against the Kansas City Chiefs. The game saw three turnovers, including fumbles and an interception from Jackson himself.
"We're upset," remarked Jackson, the frontrunner for this season's MVP award, following the 17-10 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. "Offensively, we couldn't generate much on the scoreboard, scoring only once. That's not characteristic of us. We moved the ball down the field, but we need to convert and put points on the board. The team isn't frustrated; we're just angry. We recognize the immense effort we put in to reach this point."

Despite showcasing some impressive moments on Sunday, including a touchdown pass after narrowly escaping a sack by Leo Chenal, Jackson faced challenges against the formidable Chiefs defense and fell short of his usual fluidity. With this defeat, Jackson now holds a 2-4 record in the playoffs, fueling speculation from critics who suggest he struggles under the spotlight, having accumulated eight turnovers compared to four touchdowns in his playoff career. However, his head coach, John Harbaugh, remains unworried about the 27-year-old player.

"I told him to stand tall," Harbaugh reassured. "He's had a stellar season, and today's performance was all heart. He fought hard, giving everything he had. I have no reason to be disappointed in him."

On the other side, the Chiefs advance to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five years, with the opportunity to achieve back-to-back championships for the first time since the 2004 New England Patriots.
